We are currently seeking a talented individual to join the Hidden Valley Elementary School team. HVES , together with parents and community, staff at Hidden Valley are committed to focusing on the development of young people who are kind and feel a sense of belonging. An educational assistant is a crucial member of a school's support staff, working alongside teachers. An educational assistant helps students with varying needs, including those with disabilities or learning difficulties. Educational assistants may work with students one to one, or educational assistants can assist in the classroom, fostering a positive learning environment. Through their dedication and commitment, educational assistants play a vital role in promoting inclusivity and academic success within the school community.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Grade 12 graduation or equivalent
Experience working with youth
Experience working with youth with special needs would be considered an asset
Post-secondary training in educational assistant, exceptionality worker, special education assistant, or a related field would be considered an asset

DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND SUITABILITY:
Candidates should have and may be assessed on their:
- Ability to work effectively with students, teachers, and school staff;
- Adaptability to cope with a wide variety of situations.
- Ability to work as a member of a team.
- Good organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
- Flexibility to undertake a variety of assignments.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- A willingness to work in outdoor education programming.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- Criminal Record/RCMP Check with Vulnerable Sector; to be provide before the first day of employment, dated no more than 3 months prior to your start date
- Standard First Aid; to be provided within 3 months of the first day of employment
- Completion of the Education Assistant YG Learn course
