Robert Service School is a K-12 school with approximately 200 students. We have a highly dedicated and diverse staff led by the RSS Principal and the Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in Education Manager and supported by an engaged community. Situated in Dawson City, Yukon, on Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in Territory, those of us who call it home live according to principles that are referred to as Tr’ëhude , living or going through the world in a good way. Section 17.7 of the Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in Self-Government Agreement commits Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in and the Government of Yukon to share responsibility for lifelong learning on Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in Traditional Territory. The administration, design, and delivery of education is co-governed and emphasizes an integrated education system built on a foundation of Dënezhu and local ways of knowing, being, and doing. We follow the lead of our learners and respond by providing opportunities that can meet their needs and that allow them to discover their purpose.
The Hän Language Cultural Experiential Cultural Programming Coordinator will design and deliver hands-on, culturally based learning experiences in the Hän Room. This role involves coordinating crafts, field trips, community visits, and Elder engagement to bring cultural knowledge and experiential education to life for students.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Please clearly demonstrate on your cover letter and resume, how you meet the following qualifications and experience:
- YFN language teacher language certification or equivalent
- Familiarity with curriculum design principles and long-range instructional planning
- Demonstrated language proficiency (read, write and speak) and on-going commitment to improve language proficiency of the Hän language to deliver the Hän language and culture program at the K-9 level
- Considerable knowledge and awareness of Yukon First Nations/ Tr ʼ ond ë k Hw ë ch ʼ in culture, traditional practices, values and beliefs as well as a good understanding of the past and current issues in education, heritage and languages with a view to past, the present and the future
DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND SUITABILITY:
Candidates should have and may be assessed on their:
- Demonstrated and on-going commitment to improve language proficiency
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to design curriculum materials into clear, accessible and organized systems
- Ability to adapt and modify curriculum to address students‘ needs and gifts to ensure that all students experience success
- Ability to connect and collaborate with school based staff, knowledge holders, Elders, parents and/or caregivers
- Willingness to actively promote Yukon First Nations language and culture within the school programming and environment
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- Criminal Record/RCMP Check with Vulnerable Sector; to be provided before the first day of employment, dated no more than 3 months prior to your start date
- Candidates must hold Yukon Teacher Certification (learn about the certification process ) or be eligible for a Letter of Permission (LOP). If you do not have a bachelor’s degree, you may still qualify for an LOP, and we encourage you to apply. Eligibility will be reviewed during the interview process.
