We seek a talented individual to join the Porter Creek Secondary School team. PCSS is a comprehensive school with a wide variety of hands-on opportunities for students. PCSS displays excellence in Athletics, Arts, and Academics. We are located on the traditional territories of the Kwanlin Dün First Nation and the Ta'an Kwäch'än Council. This position provides the opportunity to join a dynamic, inclusive, staff team that is dedicated to student success and understands the significance of working with families, our community, and First Nations to deliver on that promise. This 1.0FTE Teaching role will involve courses in French 11, French 8, English Language Learners, Leadership 10-12

Essential Qualifications
- Bachelor of Education or equivalent
- Experience adapting teaching to meet student needs
- Recent experience teaching French at the Secondary School level
- Recent experience teaching English Language Learners at the Secondary School level
- Experience adapting programming for students with diverse learning needs and behavioural challenges within the classroom setting
- Experience with First Nations ways of Knowing, Doing and Being to support and instruct students academically, socially, and behaviourally
- Undergraduate or graduate-level courses or teachable subject of English Language Learning is an asset
- Undergraduate or graduate-level courses or teachable subject of French is an asset
The ideal candidate will possess these qualifications, skills, and knowledge, but also demonstrate suitability for the role and organizational culture:
- Superior classroom management, planning and organizational skills;
- Willingness and ability to teach all relevant Learning Standards and foster an experiential learning philosophy;
- Ability to adapt and modify curriculum to meet a range of learning abilities while incorporating cultural values and traditions into curricular components;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills working with students, parents, administration, and other staff members;
- Ability to differentiate instruction using current assessment for learning pedagogy and practice;
- Willingness and ability to work as a member of a professional team to promote and work collaboratively to support school initiatives and the total school program;
- Ability and interest in working to support whole school goals beyond the classroom (e.g., sports, experiential opportunities, clubs).
- A knowledge of and sensitivity to the culture and aspirations of First Nations people of Yukon and a culturally diverse student population.
- Criminal Record/RCMP Check with Vulnerable Sector; to be provided before the first day of employment, dated no more than 3 months prior to your start date
