Position Overview

Responsible for the continuous supply, delivery, and maintenance of essential building services such as steam, electricity, compressed air, heat, air conditioning, standby power, hot and cold water, medical gases and any other critical service requirements within the MHC campus. Ensures that all responsibilities are performed in an efficient, effective manner, observing all applicable safety measures, codes, regulations and standards.

Experience
  • Previous experience as a 3rd class Power Engineer, preferably in a health care, commercial, institutional setting.
  • Wide range of trade experience in plumbing, electrical, mechanical, controls is preferred.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
  • Must have a current Manitoba 3rd Class Power Engineering certificate.
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) training requirements for this position shall be in accordance with the Employer policy.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Knowledge of the English language consistent with the demands of the positions.
  • Computer skills are recommended.
  • Works within MHC’s core values, philosophy, vision, CQI goals, policies and procedures.
  • Ability to function as an effective member of an interdisciplinary team, including collaboration, team work and good communication skills.
  • Must be able to work cooperatively and courteously with all health centre staff.
  • Must take extreme care in performance of tasks when in close contact with exposed steam, pipes, and high-speed rotating equipment.
  • Must be able to perform duties without supervision, showing organization, adaptability, individual initiative, and good judgement.
  • Assumes responsibility for ongoing education and participates in professional activities for personal and professional growth.
Physical Requirements
  • Physical health to meet the requirements of the position.
  • Must be able to work in areas subject to high temperature, humidity, and considerable noise.

This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
