Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centred clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.

Position Summary:

Southern Health-Santé Sud is currently recruiting for 3 Independent Contract Family Physicians in the Red River Valley Corridor (Morris, St. Jean Baptiste, Emerson & Roseau River FN area). One of the positions is designated bilingual. The 23-bed Morris General Hospital provides 24/7 Emergency and inpatient services, basic lab and diagnostic imaging services aligned with the services for the area, as well as supports the primary care needs of the population at various primary care sites such as within the Morris General Hospital, Ginew Wellness Centre, Centre de santé Montcalm Health Centre, and the Emerson Clinic.

Community services offered in the area include minor out-patient surgical procedures, home care, mental health services, public health, physiotherapy, dietetic counselling, and palliative care as well as many other health-related referral services. This position requires the candidate to participate in an Emergency Department rotation as one of several on-call physicians at the Morris General Hospital. Other duties and responsibilities include primary care at the Ginew Wellness Centre, Centre de santé Montcalm Health Centre & Emerson Clinic. The physician will be part of a collaborative team supporting NP primary care services in Emerson as well as actively participating in PCH duties/responsibilities at the Red River Valley & Emerson Personal Care Homes.

The Town of Morris and the surrounding area are prosperous, growing communities that will continue to expand and develop in the future. Location is on the Provincial Trunk Highway 75, 30-45 minutes south of Winnipeg.

Qualifications:

  • Proficiency of both official languages is essential for target and designated bilingual positions
  • Must be eligible for registration and licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba.
  • Must be current in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) & Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
  • Given the cultural diversity of our region, the ability to respect and promote a culturally diverse population is required
  • Demonstrated ability to meet the physical and mental demands of the job
  • Demonstrated ability to respect confidentiality including paper, electronic formats and other mediums • Good work and attendance record

Conditions of Employment:

  • Completes and maintains a satisfactory Criminal Record Check, Vulnerable Sector Search, Adult Abuse Registry Check and Child Abuse Registry Check, as appropriate.
  • All Health Care workers are required to be immunized as a condition of employment in accordance with Southern Health-Santé Sud policy.
  • Requires a valid Class 5 driver’s license, an all-purpose insured vehicle and liability insurance of at least $1,000,000.00.
