Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.

Position Overview

Reporting to the Manager of Health Services or designate the incumbent is responsible for:

  • Coordinating the day to day organization of equipment.
  • Participating in the capital equipment process including contacting vendors and providing Manager Health Services with product information.
  • Ensuring equipment is safe and in good mechanical working order and is available for patient use.
  • Providing administrative support related to the tracking and record-keeping related to all equipment purchases.
  • Coordinating and maintaining equipment/instrument/ inventories, ensuring that quantity and quality standards are maintained, including:
    • Maintaining inventory lists of equipment/ including items being repaired or replaced;
    • Initiating the exchange of incorrect and/or deficient items;
    • Monitoring accuracy of charges, credits from product complaints and transfer of charges;
    • Taking action to ascertain status of back ordered equipment;
    • Requisitioning and maintaining, on approval, non-stock equipment orders;
    • Delivering and labelling equipment as necessary;
    • Requesting quotes on new equipment;
    • Assisting with implementation of practice and/or product changes.
  • Facilitating the preventative maintenance program for selected equipment, in collaboration with Clinical Engineering.
  • Participating with Manager Health Services in solving equipment issues.
  • Acting as a resource for staff in trouble shooting and the use of patient care equipment and supplies.
  • Following up on staff complaints and/or Incident Reports involving products, supplies and/or equipment. Communicates results of findings Manager Health Services.
  • Investigating unusual occurrences such as breach in infection control, broken or damaged equipment, etc. and report it to the appropriate manager or director.
Experience
  • Two (2) years’ experience related to inventory.
  • Two (2) years’ experience managing healthcare equipment.
  • Two (2) years’ experience in a healthcare setting.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
  • Complete high school education, Manitoba standards, required.
  • Completion of relevant post-secondary education in electronics, mechanical program including but not limited to Business Administration.
  • Combination of relevant experience and education may be considered.

SPECIAL TRAINING:

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications with proficiency in Excel.
  • Knowledge of inventory and audit systems preferred.
