Job Summary:

The Policies and Contracts Specialist provides expertise in the development and review of CancerCare Manitoba’s (CCMB) corporate policies and procedures, contracts and agreements.

Qualifications:

Required:

Level of Formal Education & Experience

  • Post-secondary diploma or certificate in either legal administrative assistance, business, research administration or a health-care related discipline from an accredited educational institution. A post-secondary degree is considered an asset.
  • 5 years of experience in policy and/or contract review and development in a business, research, or health care environment
  • 2 years of experience in the development or analysis of corporate policies and/or procedures

An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Skills and Abilities

  • Practical skills and experience in contract law and negotiations
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to independently conduct research and gather information as necessary for policy or contract preparation
  • Ability to work on multiple assignments simultaneously with appropriate prioritization while balancing the need for quick turnaround within longer-term strategic efforts
  • Understanding of necessary legal and regulatory requirements including the Public Health Information Act (PHIA), the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA) and the Regulated Health Professions Act
  • Ability to work in teams and/or lead groups in achieving consensus
  • Knowledge and motivation to plan and monitor assigned tasks, coordinate deadlines, monitor and communicate progress on policy development and revision.
  • Able to work with minimal supervision and a high degree of confidentiality and must be able to exercise independent judgement.

  • Must be legally able to work in Canada

Preferred:

  • Ability to speak French
