Pensionable Salary Enhancement - Nurses in eligible classifications may be eligible to earn an additional $5.95/hour when working full-time hours within a prescribed six-month reporting period. (Effective April 1, 2025 - March 31st 2027.)

Position Overview

Under the general supervision of and in collaboration with the Clinical Manager, the Clinical Resource Nurse (CRN) is responsible for providing clinical expertise to nurses.

The Clinical Resource Nurse assumes a leadership role in coordinating patient/resident care within the health care team to ensure quality patient/resident care outcomes and promote an interdisciplinary patient/resident centered approach to care based on best practice.

Experience
  • Endoscopy experience required.
  • Minimum three years recent related surgical experience required.
  • Day Surgery experience preferred.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
  • Graduate of approved Registered Nursing program.
Certification/Licensure/Registration
  • Responsible to maintain and provide proof of active registration with the professional body in which they are registered.
  • Current BCLS certification.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Knowledge of:
    • College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba Standards of Practice for Registered Nurses.
    • Canadian Nurses Association Code of Ethics for Registered Nurses.
    • Scope of practice as documented in the Registered Nurses Act.
    • Regional/Facility/unit policies, procedures, protocols, and guidelines.
    • Nursing care knowledge related to clinical area.
    • Personal Health Information Act (PHIA), Protection of Persons in Care Act, Mental Health Act, Workplace Hazardous Material Information System (WHMIS), Principles of Routine Practices (Universal Precautions) and other legislated acts.
    • Roles and responsibilities of members of the health care team.
    • Principles of delegation.
  • Demonstrates effective oral and written communications skills.
  • Ability to prioritize care for an individual patient or a group of patients/residents.
  • Ability to delegate care appropriately and monitor outcomes of delegated care.
  • Ability to respond to a variety of simultaneous demands.
  • Ability to recognize and pursue self-development opportunities.
  • Ability to perform independently and as a member of the health care team.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing situations.
  • Ability to maintain concentration with frequent interruptions.
  • Ability to function in a demanding and stressful environment.

Physical Requirements
  • May be required to work extended hours.
    May involve exposure to disease, radiation, toxic materials, noise, allergens etc.
  • May encounter aggressive and/or agitated individuals.
  • Position involves physical activities such as standing, transferring and transporting patients//residents and equipment.

This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
