Position Overview

Under the direct supervision of the Manager, Community Services and Decision Support, the Health Records Clerk is responsible for all Health Information Services (HIS) office, business and secretarial procedures and systems in the Department. The Health Records Clerk will provide cordial service to others, while maintaining patient confidentiality at all times.

Experience
  • A minimum of 1 year working in a health care setting.
  • Similar equivalent working experience(s) in an administrative capacity may be acceptable.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Post-secondary training in business or secretarial/office procedures and systems.
Certification/Licensure/Registration

Qualifications and Skills
  • Computer knowledge required.
  • Familiar with office systems, photocopiers, facsimiles and complex telephone systems.
  • Minimum typing speed of 35 wpm.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communications skills.
  • Must have the ability to exercise good judgement and to maintain strict confidentiality when dealing with patient information and Health Centre matters.
  • Must have the ability to foster good public relationships and effective working relationships.

This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.

The WRHA legal entity includes Churchill Health Centre, Deer Lodge Centre, Golden West Centennial Lodge, Grace Hospital, Middlechurch Home of Winnipeg, Pan Am Clinic, River Park Gardens, Victoria General Hospital, WRHA corporate programs, and WRHA community health services.
