Position Overview

The Analyst Medicine - Critical Care will provide advanced statistical and data management expertise in support of a large, complex medical database that is continuously evolving. The successful candidate will:

  • have a strong background in biostatistics, data management, and advanced statistical programming, particularly in SAS.
  • engage extensively with database personnel, physicians, researchers, and administrators to ensure high-quality data, robust analyses, and timely reporting.
    play a key part in maintaining database integrity, supporting its continuous evolution, and producing high-quality reports and analyses to support clinical, quality improvement, and research initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintains and oversees the integrity, quality, and security of a large, continuously evolving medical database.
  • Collaborates with a multidisciplinary group to support database development, enhancement, and documentation.
  • Designs, implements, and validates statistical analyses using SAS. Facility with R is highly desirable.
  • Develops, generates, and refines routine and ad hoc statistical and analytical reports for clinical, research, and administrative stakeholders.
  • Consults with physicians, researchers, and other data users to define analytical requirements, translate clinical and research questions into statistical plans, and interpret results.
  • Contributes to the ongoing evolution of the database, including data structure design, variable definition, metadata standards, and data quality procedures.
  • Contributes to developing and implementing procedures for data validation, cleaning, and quality assurance.
  • Prepares and maintains comprehensive documentation of data management processes, analytical methods, and reporting standards in accordance with institutional and regulatory requirements.
  • Provides training and technical support to database users and collaborators on data access, interpretation, and use of reports.
Experience
  • 5+ years' experience in statistical analysis and data management in a medical, clinical, or health research setting.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
  • Master’s degree in Statistics, Biostatistics, Data Science, Epidemiology, or a related quantitative field.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Demonstrated expert-level proficiency in SAS for data management and statistical analysis required.
  • Experience working with large, complex, and evolving datasets required.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with technical staff, physicians, and researchers.
  • Proficiency in R for data manipulation, visualization, and advanced analytics preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Access and other common data management platforms for data manipulation and executing checks of data quality and consistency preferred.
  • Experience with clinical or health research databases, including knowledge of relevant privacy/confidentiality considerations preferred.

This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
