Position Overview

Under the direction of the Manager of Patient Care, the Activities Worker plans and provides recreational therapy for each individual resident of Dancing Sky Personal Care Home. The Activities Worker is responsible for program development and social activities both inside and outside of the facility.

Experience
  • Previous experience working with the elderly or volunteer work with the elderly is desirable.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
  • Must have grade 12 or equivalent.
  • A degree or certificate in recreational activities or physical education would be an asset.

  • Ability to maintain privacy and confidentiality.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and written.
  • Ability to work independently as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Ability to exercise professional judgement, initiative and discretion.

This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
