The Opportunity

The National Mining Director, Operations & Support is responsible for leading and managing mining aftersales operations within the FMM Area of Responsibility (AOR) and nationally. This role provides strategic leadership to drive safety, operational excellence, customer satisfaction, and profitable growth across parts, service, and technical support for the mining equipment and mining customers across the country.

The Role

  • Lead the national mining aftersales strategy and execution, aligning with overall business objectives to drive growth, profitability, and customer satisfaction.
  • Direct sales and operational activities across the FMM AOR and nationally, leading the mining aftersales sales team and developing and executing business plans to drive revenue growth, market presence, and customer demand for parts, service, and technical support.
  • Serve as the company subject matter expert for mining aftersales, with deep understanding of market trends, competition, customer challenges, and opportunities.
  • Own senior-level relationship management for major mining accounts, ensuring strong engagement through regular meetings, site visits, and executive involvement as required.
  • Lead negotiation and execution of service and supply agreements, ensuring delivery against commitments while meeting margin and profitability KPIs (including MARC agreements, contract pricing, reporting, service availability, and inventory strategy).
  • Own and manage strategic relationships with key vendors, suppliers, and manufacturers to ensure alignment and effective execution across parts availability, technical support, training, and marketing initiatives.
  • Drive operational excellence by monitoring and influencing key performance indicators, including financial statements, sales reports, utilization, WIP, receivables, payables, and inventory performance.
  • Lead and develop the service organization, ensuring appropriate workforce planning, forecasting, training, and recruitment to meet customer demand safely and effectively.
  • Manage and develop the national mining Technical support and Project teams, ensuring safe and effective technical communication and delivery of rebuilds, outages, assemblies, and field support projects.

Management Scope and Budget Responsibilities

  • Full P&L ownership for the regional mining aftersales business.
  • National leadership of mining parts and components sales.
  • Direct leadership and management of sales, operations, service, and technical support teams.

Working Conditions

  • Physical Skill: Regular use of a computer on a daily basis

Key Competencies (summary of up to 5 key competencies required for the job)

  • Proven experience managing P&L, SG&A, and financial performance.
  • Strong technical aptitude related to mining equipment parts, components, rebuilds, services, and lifecycle cost management.
  • Demonstrated leadership and people management skills across multi-regional or national organizations.
  • Exceptional relationship-building skills with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Strategic account management experience, including forecasting, analysis, and planning.
  • Strong working knowledge of sales and operations processes, financial statements, project management, and Microsoft Office (advanced Excel and PowerPoint).

The Candidate

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or equivalent experience in mining equipment aftersales.

    Experience: 7-10 years of senior operational or general management experience in the mining equipment industry, with a strong focus on aftersales parts, service, and technical support.

    Industry Knowledge: Senior-level knowledge of mining equipment, aftersales operations, and customer support models.
