Opportunity

The Mining Key Account Manager is responsible for strategic relationship management and project visibility across the Canadian mining sector. This role focuses on driving revenue growth through expert account oversight, consultative sales, and national project engagement. The incumbent ensures adherence to Wajax policies and procedures while representing the organization in a professional and credible manner.

The Role

    Primary Responsibilities

    • Drive revenue growth within assigned national mining account portfolios and lead the acquisition of new and large-scale accounts.
    • Lead the preparation, presentation, and submission of detailed quotations and technical product presentations in response to RFQs, RFPs, and tenders for major mining projects.
    • Execute national mining industry strategies, including formal account planning and forecasting, in collaboration with regional business development teams.
      • Partner with regional account managers to ensure comprehensive national coverage of mining projects.
      • Provide technical collaboration to support the development of competitive quotations and tender submissions.
      • Share industry and market insights, including identification of new product and solution opportunities.
    • Develop and maintain strategic relationships associated with large-scale mining projects on a national basis.
      • Transition customer relationships from transactional to consultative partnerships by articulating a strong value proposition.
      • Establish partnerships with large key accounts, mining projects, engineering firms, and mining consultants.
      • Maintain effective and professional communication with customers through in-person meetings and virtual platforms.
      • Build and enhance Hitachi-Wajax brand awareness across mining projects, engineering firms, and consulting organizations.
      • Develop and maintain a comprehensive national database of mining projects.
    • Collaborate closely with Hitachi Construction Machinery Americas (HCMA) to align business activity and share market intelligence.
    • Monitor and analyze market conditions, customer activity, project pipelines, and competitor positioning to understand the competitive landscape.
    • Develop a strong working knowledge of the Hitachi portfolio, including Wenco, Autonomous Haulage Systems (AHS), LCI, Bradken, and other technology partners.
    • Maintain active engagement with national mining associations (e.g., CIM, PDAC, CDDA, COAL).
    • Coordinate with Business Development teams to identify and execute expansion and cross-selling opportunities within existing accounts.
    • Maintain a high-level understanding of mining equipment specifications, features, benefits, and applications.

    Secondary Responsibilities

    • Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
    • Collaborate with sales representatives and inside sales teams to support project development and execution.
    • Mentor and coach team members on technical, commercial, and strategic selling capabilities.
    • Support strategic capture planning and proposal development initiatives.
    • Maintain membership and participation in relevant mining associations as required.

    Safety

    • Adherence to Wajax’s and client’s policies and procedures, as well as the National Standards of Safety

    The Candidate

    Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Business Administration, Commerce, or equivalent

    Work Experience: 10+ years of key account management experience

    • Proficiency in technical equipment, mining equipment,
    • Passionate about sales and business development
    • Intermediate computer skills in word processing, databases, spreadsheets, email, and the internet.
    • Valid Driver’s License and current Driver’s Abstract.
    • Completion of required online and other training.

    Knowledge: Leadership level industry experience and knowledge of industry sectors an asset

    **This role may work out of any city in Canada.

    Compensation:

    Base pay $100k-125k per annum plus commission and Annual Incentive Bonus . Pay may vary based on skills, expertise, and performance, and is a component of the total rewards package.
