The Opportunity

The purpose of this role is to support the estimating efforts of the sales team by providing technical expertise and information. It ensures accurate estimates and optimized equipment selection that align with customer needs, specific applications, and manufacturer performance guidelines. Additionally, the role delivers both pre‑sale and post‑sale support through timely, accurate technical data and product knowledge across all industrial engine/transmission products and services.

The Role

  • Assesses and reviews any technical requirements, proposals development and documentation for existing or new power product applications
  • Analyzes electrical and/or mechanical system operations and prepares reports including recommendations for cost effective solutions for operational deficiencies
  • Prepares and presents technical documentation (draft drawings, layouts, performance evaluations) for conceptual designs or new product development and creates technical documentation and user manuals for current products; acts as key person for the evaluation of any conceptual application designs and provides application information to support the conceptual design
  • Provides assistance to sales team to develop costing proposals to convert conceptual design to technical solutions; provides technical direction and support on mechanical layouts and assembly, and electrical and control circuitry
  • Determines the technical and labour requirements of value added non-MTU components on project applications/quotations as well as the integration of these non-MTU components into projects; provides equipment, material, and labour cost estimates for projects
  • Organizes and documents all equipment selection studies, supplier quotes, and data sheets including a point-by-point description with all notes, exceptions and clarifications to customer’s specification and account manager/PDM project scope
  • Supports sales team in gathering and interpreting raw historical data for electricity, heating, cooling consumption, to formulate into usable state and conducts feasibility studies for the application of power generation equipment, heating/cooling systems
  • Supports and assists staff as well as customers by trouble-shooting technical problems and by providing on-site technical customer support

The Candidate

  • Education: University Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
  • Work Experience: 5-7 years
  • Knowledge: proficient technical knowledge of mechanical and electrical technology and concepts, diesel/gas power generation systems; experience in estimating and diesel/gas engine applications, knowledge of Microsoft Office, MS Project, AutoCAD.
