Come work as a Gastroenterologist/Hepatologist with Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH)!

The Division of Gastroenterology at the University of British Columbia (UBC) and Vancouver General Hospital (VGH) invites applications for a full-time academic position in Transplant Hepatology.

We are seeking a Gastroenterologist or Internal Medicine specialist with advanced training in liver transplantation and hepatology. The successful candidate must hold certification from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC) or be eligible for such certification. Completion of a recognized fellowship in Transplant Hepatology or significant clinical experience at a major academic liver transplant center is required.

As this is an academic appointment, the candidate must possess a postgraduate research degree (Master’s or PhD) or have a strong record of scholarly productivity in clinical or translational research, as evidenced by peer-reviewed publications and academic engagement.

Our Hepatology group is actively developing expertise in priority areas, including endohepatology, metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH), and autoimmune liver disease. While expertise in these domains would be considered an asset, applicants with other complementary strengths in hepatology are strongly encouraged to apply.

Clinical responsibilities will include participation in the inpatient liver transplant service (including on-call coverage of the transplant ward) and outpatient transplant clinics. Depending on the candidate’s background and interests, there may be opportunities to integrate a general gastroenterology practice, including access to endoscopy resources.

The successful applicant will be expected to contribute actively to the teaching and mentorship of medical students, residents, and fellows, and to engage in collaborative academic and clinical initiatives within the Division.

The University of British Columbia and Vancouver Coastal Health hire on the basis of merit and are committed to employment gender, racial, religious and LGBTQ equity. All qualified candidates are encouraged to apply; however, Canadians and permanent residents will be given priority.
