Vancouver Coastal Health is looking for a VCH/PHC Review Panel Liaison to join the Regional Mental Health & Addictions Program team. Apply today to join our team!
As a VCH/PHC Review Panel Liaison with Vancouver Coastal Health you will:
- Be responsible for supporting psychiatrists with Mental Health Act Review Panel hearings by working with in-house Legal Counsel to identify eligible cases, and lead, inform, prepare and present VCH/PHC’s position by calling and preparing witnesses, leading evidence, cross-examining the witnesses, and providing submissions for the Review Panel.
- Provide leadership with an organization-wide engagement plan, to ensure effective and equitable implementation and change management within the designated program area.

Education & Experience
- Master’s Degree in Nursing, Psychiatric Nursing or an Allied Health discipline, such as Social Work.
- Five (5) year’s recent, related experience in a complex health care environment including clinical leadership, program planning, education, facilitation and project leadership or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Current practicing registration in the recognized provincial college or professional association is required.
Knowledge & Abilities
- Demonstrated strong leadership skills and abilities in taking initiative.
- Demonstrated strong oral advocacy skills.
- Demonstrated strong communication skills (both verbally and in writing).
- Demonstrated understanding of the Mental Health Act and Review Panel processes.
- Demonstrated strong clinical knowledge of psychiatric diagnoses, assessments, and treatments.
Strong clinical knowledge of and experience working in the mental health care system. - Demonstrated ability to multitask effectively.
- Demonstrated ability to identify gaps and implement solutions.
- Exemplary interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Models personal integrity and accountability and is a committed team-player.
- Demonstrated knowledge in clinical practice document/protocol development and implementation.
- Keeps informed about evolving trends and practices, and integrates evidence-based practice in the delivery of services.
- Develops and maintains strong relationships with key internal and external partners to promote and enhance services provided with sensitivity to diversity and Indigenous lens.
- Practices the recognition, inclusion and support of all types and aspects of diversity at all stages of engagement, with an understanding of the issues faced by people from equity-deserving groups.
- Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
As per Ministry of Health policy, all health care workers working in publicly-funded health care facilities are required to report their past receipt of certain vaccines or history of certain infections. Collecting these records will allow for offering of any missing vaccines, and for appropriate actions to be taken in the event of any future exposure to a communicable disease or during outbreaks.
