Vancouver Coastal Health is looking for a Vocational Rehabilitation Coordinator to join the Vocational Services team at Sunshine Coast Mental Health in Sechelt, BC. Apply today to join the team!

As a Vocational Rehabilitation Coordinator at Vancouver Coastal Health, you will:

  • Collaborate with mental health team members, delivers Vocational Rehabilitation Services aimed at meeting the needs of persons with serious and persistent mental illness.
  • Provide support to individuals through the position of vocational counselling development of therapeutic work programs and the Therapeutic Volunteer program.
  • Eventually develop a full continuum of support to clients seeking paid employment in an integrated community setting.
Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelors degree in an Allied Health Discipline from a recognized program.
  • Two (2) years recent vocational counseling or job market/development experience.
  • One (1) year working individuals with a severe and persistent mental illness or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Valid BC Driver’s License.
  • Eligibility for certification as a rehabilitation professional with Certified Vocational Rehabilitation Professional (CVRP), Registered Vocational Professional (RVP), or equivalent.

Knowledge & Abilities

  • Knowledge of psychosocial rehabilitation principles.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • General of knowledge Trauma Informed Practice and Harm Reduction approaches and Strengths-based care.
  • Demonstrated ability to promote Indigenous Cultural Safety.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide competent and culturally safety care in a variety of settings and with diverse populations.
  • Work processing and computer application skills.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.

The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes. Successful applicants may be required to complete a Criminal Records Review Check.

As per Ministry of Health policy, all health care workers working in publicly-funded health care facilities are required to report their past receipt of certain vaccines or history of certain infections. Collecting these records will allow for offering of any missing vaccines, and for appropriate actions to be taken in the event of any future exposure to a communicable disease or during outbreaks. For all new hires and appointments to Vancouver Coastal Health, you will be asked to provide this information as part of the onboarding process.
