Senior R&D Engineer (Remote - Canada)

Summary / Role Purpose

The Senior R&D Engineer - Integration will collaborate with others to produce, extend, and maintain our next generation cloud simulation. In this role, the Senior R&D Engineer will use advanced technical and problem-solving skills to blend QA and DevOps-centric automation with cloud microservices software development. Working across QA and Development teams, the engineer will apply industry best practices to satisfy customer requirements, comply with company process standards, and accomplish development objectives.

This role can be done 100% remotely from any location within Canada.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Participates in planning, architecture, and research

• Performs complex development activities that may require extensive analysis in areas including cloud software/service deployment and distributed system maintenance/scaling

• Employs best practices and helps to maintain them through technical reviews and mentoring

• Investigates problems discovered by QA or product support and develops solutions

• Researches and understands the marketing requirements for a product, including target environment, performance criteria and competitive issues. May work with strategic customers or proxies to assess needs and develop solutions

• Uses modern cloud automation best practices and tooling

• Works independently with minimal supervision and may take on some planning and mentoring responsibilities

• May be responsible for managing interns or co-ops but typically does not have direct reports

• Root cause investigation, automated deployment testing, production incident solving

• Participates with on call rotation as alerts arise
