Job Description

This role supports Tech & Services by deploying Operational Excellence across all divisions and corporate functional areas throughout Canada. The operational excellence manager will be responsible for developing & implementing strategies to optimize operational process and enhance overall performance. This role will work closely with cross-functional teams to identify areas of improvement, streamline operations and drive a culture of continuous improvement. This will include driving measurable and sustainable results that align with core operational and financial KPI’s as well as applying a customer focused lens to introduce innovation in a meaningful way.

How You'll Make an Impact:

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement operational excellence initiatives & projects to optimize efficiencies and reduce costs.
  • Conduct comprehensive operational assessments to identify opportunities for process management and maintenance use Six Sigma principles.
  • Lead cross-functional teams in implementing process improvements and best practices for standardization.
  • Collaborate with department heads to establish operational & financial targets that align with budget forecasts.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders to ensure strategic alignment of operational goals.
  • Perform detailed on site operational assessments to identify areas of improvement
  • Prepare Operational & Executive reports outlining opportunities by site that will deliver measurable results that align with business objectives and client needs
  • Partner with Operational Field teams to map detailed action plans to deliver optimal results based on site assessments and financial goals.
  • Prepare & monitor weekly reports on OE KPI’s and identify risk.
  • Provide contract analysis & bidding support for RFP’s and contract rebid.
  • Assist in strategic data analysis/modeling on business/market trends.
  • Support Tech & Services as required with specific operational issues related to personnel, capabilities, processes, services, etc.

Program Development & Management (20%)

  • Leverage knowledge, skills, and experience to help support Operational Excellence Programs and share best practices across the organization.

On Site Operational Excellence Review (65%)

  • Review current business performance for a specific site and/or function
  • Identify opportunities for Six Sigma projects and conduct analysis to scope projects
  • Contribute to the development of action plans and execute against them
  • Support performance improvement projects as specified by the business unit leadership team in coordination with the Field or Functional Deployment Leader. Responsible for implementation of corrective action plans and verification of solution effectiveness.
  • Prepare OE reports & review with business leaders on Go/No GO & calculate estimated financial impacts
  • Monitor approved action plan status and escalate where necessary
  • Will work with the site level financial services team to document the fiscal impact of solutions and maintain all appropriate data within the Operational Excellence project tracking system.
  • Establish Statistical Process Control charts where applicable and train process owners in their proper use
  • Work with process owners and Information Technology (IT) resources to make data available to process owners and process improvement projects.

Other Hands On Support (15%)

  • Assist in strategic data analysis/modeling & update business leaders on key insights. For example, Merger & Acquisition
  • Provide contract analysis & bidding support for RFP’s and contract rebid.
  • Support Tech & Services as required with specific operational issues related to personnel, capabilities, processes, services, etc.
  • May participate in technical and statistical expertise to teams to enhance quality of products and services

Qualifications

What You'll Need to Succeed:

  • Post-Secondary degree in Finance, Business Operations, or Engineering
  • 5 years of hands of project management and/or Six Sigma/Kaizen/Lean practicing is preferred.
  • Strong financial acumen, budget, costing, forecasting
  • Proven Track record of implementing operational improvement initiatives and driving results
  • Strong knowledge in data cubing & statistical data analysis & data intelligence mining
  • Expert in using Excel, Visio, and Power BI
  • Experience with both food service, retail and facilities management accounts
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills required
  • 40% overnight travel required.
  • Six Sigma Certification preferred.
