Job summary

As a member of the store”s Management Team, the Supervisor/Department Manager is responsible for managing and leading the department by ensuring that the department operates efficiently with friendly and informed staff. Reporting to the Store Manager/General Manager, this role ensures customer satisfaction and retail execution that meets the performance expectations.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and coordinate activities of cleaners & janitors to ensure efficient and effective operations.
  • Inspect sites or facilities to ensure established cleanliness, sanitation and safety standards are consistently met.
  • Identify maintenance needs and recommend or arrange for additional cleaning or repair services as required.
  • Assist cleaners with tasks when necessary and provide guidance or training to maintain quality standards.
  • Communicate and coordinate cleaning schedules and activities with other departments to support overall store operations.
  • Establish and adjust work schedules to ensure adequate coverage and timely completion of tasks.
  • Monitor inventory levels of cleaning supplies, equipment, and products; purchase and restock items as needed to support continuous operations.
  • Oversee the proper use, care, and basic maintenance of cleaning equipment, ensuring all tools and machines are in safe and functional condition.
  • Ensure the cleaning department is organized, well-supplied, and presented to meet customer and operational expectations.
  • Manage team performance by encouraging, motivating, and inspiring employees to excel in their roles.
  • Train cleaning staff.
  • Resolve conflicts while ensuring both customer satisfaction and a positive work environment.
  • Ensure compliance with Health and Safety regulations.

Requirements / Skills

  • Previous experience in cleaning, housekeeping, janitorial services, or a related customer-service environment, with demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Previous supervisory experience (1 year to less than 2 years)
  • Ability to work varied shifts (weekends, early mornings, evenings and overnight when required)
  • Completion of High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Approachable, supportive, and able to foster a positive team environment.
  • Ability to handle physical demands including standing/walking for 8 hours while frequently lifting and carrying items, using a ladder, twisting, turning and reaching
  • Ability to plan, organize, communicate, delegate and follow up team activities and projects
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high cleaning standards.
  • Ability to find solutions to problems, adapt and cope with challenging situations and make difficult decision

Salary: $27.40 Per Hour
