Senior Solution Architect specializing in GIS/Geoscience Applications to design and implement optimized workstation strategies, roadmaps, and capabilities

Our Calgary client is looking for a Senior Solution Architect specializing in GIS/Geoscience Applications to design and implement optimized workstation strategies, roadmaps, and capabilities for a unified compute environment modernization project.

Must Haves:

• 10+ years as a Solution Architect
• Experience architecting GIS/Geoscience environments with tools such as ArcGIS Pro, Accumap, Kingdom, Petrel, and Posit.
• Strong technical understanding of spatial database systems and compute/storage/network infrastructure for GIS workloads.
• Experience designing and deploying secure and collaborative GIS workstation architectures.
• Ability to conduct iterative solution workshops with technical stakeholders and business SMEs.
• Proficiency documenting optimized workflows, cost efficiencies, and technical recommendations.

Nice to Haves:

• Experience with modern cloud-native geospatial platforms such as Postgres/PostGIS, Apache Sedona, Azure Synapse/Fabric, or One Lake.
• Background in Alberta’s oil and gas regulatory environment.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Azure cloud and enterprise architecture principles.

Responsibilities:

• Assess current Geoscience workstation architecture, workflows, and technology landscape.
• Lead design of an optimized, unified GIS workstation for onsite and remote users.
• Collaborate with BAs and Change Managers to develop end-user training and adoption materials.
• Identify technical constraints, integration issues, and infrastructure optimization opportunities.
• Develop and document technical strategies, roadmaps, and sustainment plans.
• Provide technical guidance on best practices for compute environments supporting GIS tools.
