Our post-secondary client is seeking a Senior PeopleSoft Functional Consultant to lead ERP de-customization and optimization (Hybrid; Edmonton).


Overview:

This role will support the optimization and modernization of PeopleSoft Campus Solutions and HCM environments. The focus is on reducing system complexity, eliminating unnecessary customizations, improving data quality, and aligning business processes to delivered PeopleSoft functionality and best practices.


Must-Haves:

  • 10+ years of hands-on PeopleSoft experience, including deep expertise in Campus Solutions and HCM
  • Proven experience leading de-customization / system rationalization initiatives (reducing custom objects, retrofitting to delivered functionality)
  • Strong expertise in PeopleSoft architecture (PeopleTools, integrations, data structures, configuration vs. customization decisions)
  • Demonstrated ability to assess complex environments and recommend optimization strategies aligned to PeopleSoft best practices
  • Experience aligning business processes to ERP capabilities (process standardization, simplification, future-state design)
  • Experience working as a senior advisor / SME engaging cross-functional stakeholders in complex environments


Nice-to-Haves:

  • Experience in post-secondary institutions (strongly preferred)
  • Public sector or complex multi-stakeholder environment experience
  • Familiarity with student administration processes (admissions, enrollment, records)
  • Experience with HR and payroll processes within HCM
  • Exposure to data governance frameworks and data quality initiatives
  • Experience with ERP modernization or cloud transition strategies
  • Relevant PeopleSoft or ERP certifications


Responsibilities:

PeopleSoft Optimization & De-customization

  • Assess current Campus Solutions and HCM environments (customizations, integrations, bolt-ons)
  • Identify opportunities to replace custom solutions with delivered functionality
  • Lead de-customization strategy, including impact analysis and transition planning
  • Recommend configuration and design standards aligned to PeopleSoft best practices

Process Standardization & Transformation

  • Analyze and redesign business processes with functional stakeholders
  • Drive standardization and simplification aligned to system capabilities
  • Define future-state process models and identify automation opportunities

Data Quality & Governance

  • Assess data quality issues and support data clean-up initiatives
  • Recommend data governance practices and sustainable data management approaches
  • Partner with institutional data teams on prioritization and remediation efforts

Implementation & Configuration Support

  • Support configuration across Campus Solutions and HCM modules
  • Collaborate with technical teams on integrations and system changes
  • Ensure alignment with upgrade paths and long-term maintainability
  • Contribute to SIT/UAT and validate solution outcomes

General BA / Advisory Responsibilities

  • Conduct gap analysis and recommend solutions
  • Elicit and document requirements, functional specs, and process flows
  • Act as a subject matter expert across business and technical teams
  • Monitor system performance and recommend continuous improvements
