Our utilities client is seeking an Intermediate to Senior Business Analyst with a technical background to support a variety of application-focused IT initiatives across multiple business units (Edmonton, AB; 011-2026).

Overview:

The Business Analyst will support a portfolio of application-focused initiatives including system enhancements, configuration, and early-stage project work such as business case development. This role will work closely with both technical teams and business stakeholders, contributing across the full lifecycle from requirements gathering through to testing and implementation.

Must-Haves:

• 3+ years of experience as a Business Analyst; at least 5 years of overall IT experience
• Experience supporting testing and UAT activities (test cases, validation, defect support)
• Experience coordinating stakeholders and facilitating workshops across business and technical teams
• Experience working across the full SDLC (systems development, integration, implementation)
• Experience with Agile and Waterfall methodologies
• Strong stakeholder communication skills with ability to work directly with business and technical teams

Nice-to-Haves:

• Experience developing business cases and feasibility studies
• Experience in a utilities or similar regulated environment
• Experience working within application development teams
• Experience leading small to medium working groups and managing documentation, plans, and schedules
• Experience with Agile story definition and/or Scrum Master responsibilities
• Ability to support both Business Analysis and Quality Assurance (testing) functions

Responsibilities:

• Gather, define, and document business and functional requirements
• Develop workflows, requirement specifications, and supporting documentation
• Support business case development, feasibility analysis, and cost estimation
• Provide guidance on strategic and tactical use of IT solutions
• Collaborate with technical teams to identify and resolve functional issues
• Facilitate workshops and coordinate stakeholders across business and IT
• Support UAT planning, test case development, and validation of system functionality
• Work directly with end users to manage expectations and ensure successful delivery
