Our client is looking for an Intermediate Power BI Developer to design, develop and maintain governed analytics, data modeling, sementic layers and analytic consumption on top of an Enterprise Data Lakehouse (EDL)

The ideal candidate will be located in Calgary or Edmonton

Must Haves:

• 4+ years' experience as a Power BI Developer, Report development, DAX, Data modeling and performance tuning
• Design, develop, and maintain Power BI reports, dashboards, and semantic models that meet business and regulatory requirements.
• Must have a solid understanding of dimensional modeling and analytics best practices
• Build reusable, well‑structured datasets using curated Silver/Gold layer data from the Enterprise Data Lakehouse.
• Proficiency in SQL for data exploration, validation, and analysis.

Responsibilities:

• Translate business requirements into analytics‑ready data models (star/snowflake, dimensional modeling).
• Ensure reports are accurate and user‑friendly, with clear definitions and consistent metrics
• Develop and maintain Power BI semantic models using:
• DAX (measures, calculations, performance optimization)
• Power BI datasets / Fabric semantic models
• Partner with Data Engineers and Architects to:
• Validate data readiness in Silver/Gold layers
• Influence data model design for analytics usability
• Apply data quality checks and validation logic at the reporting layer
• Experience working in a governed, enterprise environment (utilities, finance, regulated industries preferred).
• Understanding of data security, PII considerations, and role‑based access.
• Comfortable operating within defined standards while balancing business needs
• Work with business partners to understand reporting needs and guide them toward scalable, enterprise‑aligned solutions.
• Participate in intake, prioritization, and refinement sessions with D&A delivery teams.
• Support business users during UAT and adoption, including knowledge transfer and enablement.
