Our utilities client is seeking an Intermediate Business Analyst to support a range of application-focused IT initiatives planned for 2026 (Hybrid, Edmonton AB).

Overview

This role will support multiple IT initiatives across several business areas, with a focus on application enhancements, configuration of existing systems, and development of business cases for future projects. The Business Analyst will work closely with technical teams and business stakeholders to define requirements, support implementation, and ensure solutions align with business needs. There is also potential involvement in a SharePoint On-Premise to SharePoint Online migration.

Must-Haves:

• 5+ years of experience in a Business Analyst role within IT environments
• 5+ years of overall professional experience in information technology
• Experience supporting application enhancements and configuration initiatives
• Experience working in both Agile and Waterfall delivery methodologies
• Ability to manage and facilitate small to medium sized working groups
• Strong experience gathering, documenting, and managing business and functional requirements

Nice-to-Haves:

• Experience developing business cases and feasibility studies
• Experience documenting data definitions and data integration flows
• Experience using basic database query tools (e.g., SQL)
• Flexibility to support Quality Assurance and testing activities in addition to BA work
• Experience with SharePoint 2019

Responsibilities:

• Develop detailed business and functional requirements, workflows, and specifications for information systems
• Lead and contribute to feasibility studies, business cases, and cost/benefit analyses
• Provide strategic and tactical advice on the use of information technology
• Define requirements for application implementations and software development initiatives
• Collaborate with technical teams to identify and resolve functional gaps and deficiencies
• Engage directly with system end users to gather requirements and manage expectations
• Facilitate and manage small to medium sized working groups throughout the project lifecycle
• Prepare and maintain project documentation, plans, schedules, and supporting artifacts
• Support Agile delivery through story definition and, where required, scrum-related activities
• Flexibly support both Business Analysis and Quality Assurance (testing) activities as needed
