Our public sector client is seeking a Health & Safety Consultant to assess and mitigate operational, environmental, and compliance risks across corporate facilities

Join a provincial organization dedicated to maintaining safe and compliant workplaces. This role oversees risk identification, mitigation planning, and safety compliance within large-scale facility operations. The position provides visibility across corporate health, safety, and environmental programs and requires onsite collaboration with internal and external stakeholders at the Richmond head office.


Initial Contract until Dec 31, 2026 - Richmond - Onsite

Must Haves

  • 3-6 years in risk management, safety program administration, and compliance coordination
  • Strong understanding of occupational health and safety legislation and environmental regulations
  • Experience developing and maintaining hazardous materials management and emergency preparedness programs
  • Professional safety designation such as:
  • Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP)
  • Registered Occupational Hygienist (ROH)
  • Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Risk Management, or related field

Nice to Have

  • Experience delivering safety training and operational guidance
  • Strong reporting and documentation skills related to compliance oversight

Responsibilities

  • Conduct risk assessments spanning operational, environmental, and asset-related exposures
  • Identify and mitigate organizational risks using recognized risk management methodologies
  • Develop response and mitigation plans for emergencies, service interruptions, and workplace incidents
  • Coordinate compliance programs related to permits, inspections, and regulatory requirements
  • Support and deliver emergency preparedness planning and exercises
  • Oversee hazardous materials management activities including inventories and sampling
  • Provide interpretation of safety legislation and contractor compliance standards
  • Deliver training and education related to compliance and risk management
  • Conduct site inspections and travel as required to support provincial operations
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to advance safety and risk objectives
