Description
Data Scientist who specializes in geological/mining data to work on numerous R&D initiatives.
Must have:
- 5+ years as a Data Scientist with a strong background in both geology and advanced analytics
- Strong background in data science methodologies including machine learning, pattern recognition, anomaly detection in mining environments.
- Strong understanding of underground mining processes and geological hazard identification.
Nice to have:
- Experience with potash geology and the classification of normal and anomalous conditions is a strong asset
What you will be doing:
- Analyze geological and operational data to identify patterns and detect anomalies related to ground and rock conditions in underground mines.
- Design, develop, and implement machine learning models to support hazard assessment and mitigation strategies.
- Collaborate with geologists, engineers, and IT professionals to interpret data, validate findings, and improve detection accuracy.
- Support the development and improvement of ground inspection, hazard identification, and reporting tools, informed by both data science and geological best practices.
- Communicate technical findings to stakeholders, including operational mine staff and safety personnel.
