Description
Duration: 12 months (possibility of extension)
Location: Onsite - Manitoba - 22 Scurfield Boulevard
- Contribute as required towards civil engineering standards, construction and build practices, aligned with industry standards, regulatory requirements and business objectives.
- Source and perform acceptance evaluations as needed on products or systems for use in the Wireless' network
- Provide support and direction for staff engineers, contractors or consultants workingon civil projects
- Participate as necessary in tendering, documentation and award of construction work for network build projects including contractor and vendor selection and management, working within the guidelines of Procurement policies and procedures.
- Manage civil, electrical and mechanical engineering activities for expansion or modification of existing network facilities
- Review/approve, consultant/contractor design submissions for compliance to scope of applicable RWI standards, codes and project specs
- Action network civil deficiencies at a provincial level including security augmentations, emergency restoral, site access and emergency repairs.
- Planning, management and implementation of regional infrastructure maintenance programs including tower, HVAC, wildfire, generator, fire systems, battery, and powerline programs and any other initiatives deemed to be a priority
- Fiscal management, forecasting, and tracking of district and regional capital and operational budgets.
- Reviewing and approving site audits, structural analysis, and engineering drawings based on Planning, Radio Engineering, Microwave and Equipment Engineering requirements.
- Provide technical support during construction or operations activities at network locations
- Provide support for Field Operations, Network Implementation, Radio Engineering, Real Estate, Transport Planning, and Equipment Engineering as required in the acquisition/construction of new network facilities, or during modification of existing sites or the resolution of civil infrastructure issues.
- Enforcing engineering guidelines and network standards for network enclosures, power systems, environmental systems, antenna supporting structures and towers.
- Engineering and operational support for 3rd party incoming co-locates on owned sites.
- Ensuring infrastructure safety and compliance to all applicable codes and standards and to health and safety standards.
- Manage and implement landlord-initiated projects including the temporary moving or relocating of equipment for re-roofing or renovation work, vegetation clearing, and infrastructure augmentation.
- Managing the Manitoba Wireless Spares Depot including spares organization of spares inventory and the shipping and receiving of Wireless spares.
Skills:
- Civil Engineering Degree or Civil Engineering Technology Diploma.
- Wireless telecom education and experience will be considered an asset.
- Project management experience.
- Experience in vendor/contractor selection and procurement processes.
- Working knowledge of telecom and construction industry codes and standards including relevant CSA standards and building codes.
- Working knowledge of wireless telecommunication infrastructure.
- Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage working on multiple projects simultaneously.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office and CAD software.
- Ability to work both autonomously and in a team-based situation.
- Comfortable accessing and working at remote worksites.
- Logistics / Materials Coordination
- Valid drivers license required.
