Applications are invited from teachers with
BC Certification for the following teaching position:
Port Hardy Secondary School, Port Hardy, BC
0.20 FTE Temporary - LART
open until filled
Commencing: ASAP to June 30, 2026
or return of the incumbent, whichever comes first
The successful candidate will have the following qualifications:
- university coursework in Inclusive Education to meet the needs of students with intellectual, physical, emotional and learning disabilities, i.e. diagnosis and remediation of reading and math difficulties and Level B testing;
- experience developing and implementing IEPs;
- the ability and energy to work with multi-age groups and meet the needs of students with a range of learning styles and abilities using a variety of teaching strategies;
- strong interpersonal, communication, and collaborative skills to communicate with students, staff, and parents in a team oriented approach to teaching and learning;
- demonstrated ability to motivate students and adjust instructional strategies accordingly and to adapt curriculum to meet diverse student needs;
- knowledge and experience teaching the B.C. Secondary Curriculum;
- strong classroom management skills;
- qualifications and experience working with students with challenging behaviours;
- experience with RTI (Response to Intervention) systems;
- strong interest in innovation and inquiry; and
- ability to embed local Indigenous culture and ways of knowing into teaching practices.
