1.0 FTE District Inclusion Support Teacher

Student Support Services



This is a continuing assignment with a position of special responsibility, effective September 1, 2025

The role of the District Inclusion Support Teacher is to promote and support inclusion for all students in the most enabling environment within their school community. The successful applicant works under the direction of the Assistant Superintendent of Student Support Services and the District Principal of Student Support as an integral member of the district and school team.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or post Diploma/Certificate in Inclusion or Special Education
  • Minimum of three years’ experience as a school-based Learning Resource Teacher
  • Advanced coursework or designation in behaviour support planning/programming
  • Level B assessment certified
  • Current Non-violent Crisis Intervention certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • Valid BC teaching certificate and current membership in the Teacher Regulation Branch

Successful applicants should also possess the following skills and attributes:

  • Successful classroom teaching experience K-12
  • Training and/or experience with students with dual designations and complex learning profiles
  • Training and/or experience with programming for students who have moderate to severe communication challenges including processes and strategies such as task systems, visual supports, environmental organization
  • Training and/or experience with Trauma Informed Practice and Social Emotional Learning
  • Training and/or experience with behaviour support tools such as FAIR plans, Functional Behaviour Assessments (FBA), data collection and analysis, replacement behaviours, lagging skills teaching
  • Highly skilled in the use of MyEdBC and recent experience developing, implementing and assessing CB-IEPs
  • Exceptional organization, time management/prioritization, collaboration and communication skills

Roles and responsibilities may include:

  • Working directly with the District Principal and school-based support teams to support and plan student-centered interventions within the regular classroom environment
  • Ability to coach, model and support school staff with Universal Design for Learning (UDL), Differentiation, Response to Intervention (RTI) approaches to classroom instruction
  • Assisting classroom teachers to implement universal and essential supports to meet the diverse learning needs of students in an inclusive environment
  • Working collaboratively with school teams to design and implement behavior plans and/or Employee Safety Plans
  • Assisting the District Principal of Inclusive Education in supporting school-based staff with the development, implementation and training including CBIEPs, MyEd, UDL, RTI, FAIR plans
  • Consulting and collaborating with district and community service providers (CYSN, CYMH, NSS, etc.) to support the planning for specific students
  • Administration and interpretation of assessments up to Level B to determine strategies and support for staff to use to assist students with diverse learning needs in the regular classroom.
  • Helping to select and secure appropriate materials , supplies and equipment for students with diverse learning needs in consultation with itinerant staff
  • Providing and coordinating district-based in-service and professional development at the school and district level
  • Providing support with student transition planning (into kindergarten, between classes and schools, beyond high school )
  • Other duties as assigned
