Rocky Mountain School District No. 6 is now accepting external applications for:

Crossing Guard

Temporary, part-time (5 hr/wk)

Effective January 20 to January 30, 2026, or return of incumbent



The Adult Crossing Guard is responsible for ensuring children safely cross the street as they walk or bike to and from school and during the noon break. This is student supervisory work. Work is performed independently under the general direction of the Principal.



Examples of Work

  • Assist and ensure the safety of students at designated crossings.
  • Control traffic, using appropriate Personal Protective Equipment, to ensure safety of students crossing intersection.
  • Discuss school rules and safety concerns with students in consultation with the Principal.
  • Consistently demonstrates courteous approach when communicating with students, staff, parents, and members of the public.
  • Set up traffic control equipment at the crosswalk.
  • Notify the Principal when there is a behaviour or safety problem.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.



Required Knowledge, Abilities and Skills

  • Knowledge of the Adult Crossing Guard practices and equipment.
  • Knowledge of traffic routines.
  • Knowledge of local traffic laws and regulations.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated experience with children and youth.
  • Immediately report all safety issues that require the attention of the Principal or designate.



Required Training, Experience and Certification

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • First Aid Certificate would be an asset.



Rate of Pay

$24.65/hr as per the Collective Agreement 440
