Assignment Area(s): Socials Studies 10, Contemporary Indigenous 12, and Genocide Studies 12

Salary Range: $59,711 to $109,520 (range based on length of service and qualifications in accordance to the collective agreement)

Effective Date: Immediately, until November 28, 2025 (or return of the teacher)

Required Abilities, Qualifications and Experience:

  • Extensive academic training, professional preparation, and qualifications in teaching in all areas of this
assignment.
  • Knowledge of, and demonstrated application of, the Ministry of Education's current philosophy, teaching
practices, and evaluation/assessment/reporting procedures as applied to all areas of this assignment.
  • Knowledge of and demonstrated ability to implement teaching practices that align with the Professional
Standards for BC Educators.
  • proven ability to create hands-on, cross-curricular learning environments and activities that support engagement and motivation
  • demonstrated ability to devise and use a variety of assessment processes that effectively allow students to demonstrate their learning
  • ability to design lessons for a strong commitment to literacy development that promotes the ability to understand, critically analyze, and create a variety of forms of communication including oral, written, digital and multimedia
  • ability to design lesson and unit plans that focus on deep understanding and application of knowledge
  • ability and commitment to indigenizing curriculum
  • demonstrated commitment to the use of technology to enhance effective instructional practices
  • experience creating a personalized learning environment in which individual learning needs are understood and lesson planning is differentiated to support the various needs of the students
  • demonstrated commitment to the use of results to improve the teaching/learning process
  • demonstrated ability to effectively address a wide range of academic social, emotional and behavioural needs of students
  • demonstrated sensitivity, awareness and understanding of adolescent development and enthusiasm for developing positive relationships to motivate young adults to achieve at a high level, and to inspire confidence and self-worth
