Salary Range: $59,711 to $109,520 (range based on length of service and qualifications in accordance to the collective agreement)

Effective Date: September 1, 2025

Required Abilities, Qualifications and Experience:

  • extensive academic training, professional preparation, and qualifications in teaching in all areas of this assignment.
  • knowledge of, and demonstrated application of, the Ministry of Education's current philosophy, teaching practices, and evaluation/assessment/reporting procedures as applied to all areas of this assignment.
  • knowledge of and demonstrated ability to implement teaching practices that align with the Professional Standards for BC Educators.
  • demonstrated ability to plan for and teach all required subjects at, or near, posted grade level
  • demonstrated knowledge and experience of effective strategies to support the development of literacy skills; preference will be given to individuals possessing training and experience in Running Records, Balanced Literacy, Daily 5, and Guided Reading small group instruction
  • knowledge and demonstrated ability in teaching a well-balanced numeracy program to students (high yield routines); training in and use of SNAP data as a formative assessment tool used in planning
  • use of UDL practices for lesson design and demonstration of student learning
  • knowledge of and experience with integrating First Peoples Principles of Learning, along with local Indigenous traditions and culture, into the classroom
  • knowledge, experience, and willingness to support the Aboriginal Education Enhancement Agreement goals
  • demonstrated ability to effectively address students lagging skills, and demonstrated effective classroom organizational skills to meet students' social and emotional needs (i.e. Zones of Regulation, Strong Kids)
  • excellent skills and experience in all areas of classroom management and the promotion of a positive and effective classroom learning environment through a collaborative proactive solutions approach
  • knowledge of and proven experience in using current assessment practices to allow students to show what they know and to guide instruction
  • knowledge of methods for selecting, modifying and adapting instructional materials to meet the academic, social and emotional needs of a diverse group of students; experience co-planning CBIEPs for students
  • recent professional development related to teaching students at, or near, the posted grade level
  • commitment to implementing all aspects of the Code of Conduct and Behavior Matrix within the classroom and throughout the school; supportive of PBS goals and practices
  • proven ability as an effective team member leading school-wide initiatives, willing to work collaboratively with staff, parents and administration (School Based Team model)
