Required Abilities, Qualifications and Experience:
- Extensive academic training, professional preparation, and qualifications in teaching in all areas of this assignment.
- Knowledge of, and demonstrated application of, the Ministry of Education's current philosophy, teaching practices, and evaluation/assessment/reporting procedures as applied to all areas of this assignment.
- Knowledge of and demonstrated ability to implement teaching practices that align with the Professional Standards for BC Educators.
- Experience teaching a range of interdisciplinary and humanities-based secondary courses.
- Proven ability to integrate Indigenous perspectives and the First Peoples Principles of Learning, especially within EFP 12 and EPP Literary Studies 10.
- Demonstrated commitment to promoting career and personal planning skills in students through Career Life Education and Connections programming.
- Ability to design project-based and inquiry-driven lessons that foster student engagement and critical thinking.
- Experience with environmental science instruction, including lab-based and place-based learning opportunities.
- Ability to differentiate instruction to meet a wide range of learner needs and abilities.
- Strong background in English language instruction, composition, and literary analysis.
- Willingness to collaborate across subject areas to support integrated learning experiences.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective classroom procedures and strong classroom management.
- Commitment to professional learning and reflective practice.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, administrators, and student support teams.
- Demonstrated use of technology to enhance instruction and support student learning outcomes.
- Sensitivity and understanding of adolescent development and diverse learning needs.
