Job Summary
The Truck Driver Class 1 (or AZ Driver), under the direction of the Logistics Manager, will primarily be responsible for safely delivering product to our customers in a friendly and courteous manner. This position will require high standards of customer service and efficiency. Flexibility of shift is an important requirement for this position and overnight runs may be required.
Job Duties
- Safe operation of equipment at all times;
- Courteous and positive communication with customers and job site personnel;
- Unloading of product at customer job sites;
- Pick up product from vendors;
- Picking up coils from Steel mills and from outside storage locations;
- Transferring product between Agway locations;
- Maintaining a Class 1 License (or Ontario AZ License) in good standing;
- Maintain both electronic and paper logs;
- Perform daily pre-use inspections on all equipment;
- Wear the company uniform and represent the company in a positive fashion;
- Perform overnight runs on an as needed basis;
- Safely operate lifting devices such as the truck-mounted forklifts;
- Continuously staying in contact with logistics personnel throughout the day as needed;
- Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
- Ability to work individually as well as part of a team;
- Must maintain Class 1 License (or Ontario AZ License) in good standing and a clean driver's abstract;
- Will require in-house certification to operate truck-mounted forklifts;
- Have experience driving a Moffet (strong asset);
- Experience delivering to construction sites is an asset;
- Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing;
- Demonstrated ability to operate material-handling equipment;
- Have a good attention to detail and time management skills;
- Commited to Health and Safety, Cooperation and show Honesty;
- Work well in a team and show great communication skills
- The position requires knowledge of English and French due to communications and knowledge sharing with the English-speaking logistics team at the company's head office located in Ontario, as well as with various material drop-off locations. Interactions occur on a daily basis and involve discussions and exchanges related to logistics and transportation. The position must also be able to communicate regularly in English and French with clients inside and outside of Quebec.
Work Conditions
- Use of required personal protective equipment;
- Operation and use of necessary tools, machinery, or equipment;
- Extended periods of sitting, and other physically demanding conditions;
- Lifting, moving, or manipulating objects up to 25 kilograms.
