What will you do?

  • Closely partner with regional business leaders to focus on building culture to drive improvement in Health & Safety understanding and compliance
  • Accountable for identifying proactive trends and opportunities and implementing programs to improve health and safety
  • Provide input and identify innovative ways to build Reliance’s culture through the development and implementation of health & safety policies, programs, training etc. aimed at reducing the risk associated with HVAC activities
  • Conduct regular site visits and audits to advocate safety with frontline leaders and team members, and develop appropriate action plans as needed for gaps identified
  • Understand various provincial legislation to ensure compliance
  • Lead team meetings and support Joint Health and Safety Committees (JHSC) meetings by providing leadership and guidance
  • Actively participate in proactive workplace wellness initiatives
  • Work closely with management to ensure accident investigations are thoroughly conducted to identify accurate root cause and appropriate corrective actions initiated
  • Liaise with government agencies as needed including Health & Safety Inspectors (e.g. MOL) and act as point of contact for branch activity. 

 

What do you bring?

  • Post‑secondary education in Occupational Health & Safety or a related field
  • Obtained or working toward a recognized OHS designation such as CRSP, CRST, or NCSO
  • Minimum 3 years of Health & Safety experience with demonstrated success in coaching, mentoring, and influencing safe work practices
  • Experience supporting Health & Safety programs across multiple provinces (ON, MB, SK, AB, BC)
  • Experience working within or supporting an ISO 45001:2018 Occupational Health & Safety Management System
  • Experience with fleet safety, electrical safety and working‑at‑heights programs is an asset
  • Experience managing safety in a mobile or field‑based workforce is a strong asset
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to deliver presentations and training to all levels of the organization
  • Strong relationship‑building skills with the ability to develop effective partnerships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence and negotiate to achieve desired outcomes
  • Experience in policy, procedure, business process development, and quality improvement
  • High degree of flexibility and adaptability; able to manage multiple competing priorities in a fast‑paced, results‑driven environment
  • Demonstrated initiative, sound judgment, and strong multi‑tasking abilities
  • Must have access to reliable transportation
  • Must maintain a valid driver’s license and a clear driver abstract
  • Ability to travel up to 50% within Canada, with occasional travel to the United States
  • Must live in reasonable proximity to a major Canadian airport (e.g. Toronto, Calgary, Winnipeg)
