Director of Student Services
The Red Deer Catholic School Division (RDCRS) invites motivated, energetic, team-oriented, and faith-filled individuals to apply for the position of Director of Student Services.
Position Overview
RDCRS is seeking an inspiring, dynamic, and experienced educational leader who joins our senior leadership team at meetings to collaborate on division decisions. In this pivotal role, the Director provides visionary leadership and strategic oversight for initiatives that enhance student success and support educator growth across the division.
The successful candidate will be a champion for inclusive and equitable education, committed to promoting student and staff wellness, embracing diversity, and fostering a culture of continuous learning and cultural responsiveness. The Director will collaborate closely with school administrators, central office departments, and external partners to build organizational capacity, support continuous improvement, and ensure that Catholic identity remains central to all instructional and system-level initiatives.

Located in Central Alberta, RDCRS serves over 10,200 students in 21 schools across Red Deer, Blackfalds, Sylvan Lake, Rocky Mountain House, Innisfail, and Olds. The division offers:

Key Responsibilities
Faith Development (LQS - Embodying Visionary Leadership, Modelling Commitment to Professional Learning):
Demonstrate personal commitment to the Catholic Faith and model gospel-centered leadership in all interactions and decisions
Build capacity in self and others to achieve continuous improvement in the Faith Outcome of the Division’s Annual Education Plan
Promote and integrate Catholic teachings across all division programs
Inclusive Education & Student Support (LQS - Leading Learning, Fostering Effective Relationships, Developing Leadership Capacity):
Collaborate with the Model for Student Support (MS2) team and division Inclusive Lead Teachers to address diverse student needs
Attend weekly case conferences, “Getting the Pulse” meetings, and coordinate MS2 school visit rotations to support evidence-based interventions
Observe classrooms, assess student needs, and provide tailored support to students, teachers, and administrators
Coordinate services with Occupational Therapists, Speech-Language Pathologists, and Psychologists, managing referrals, caseloads, and parent consent processes
Facilitate collaboration among schools, families, and external service providers to ensure holistic support for student learning and well-being
Program Oversight & Professional Development (LQS - Leading Learning, Developing Leadership Capacity, Managing School Operations & Resources):
Oversee all Pre-Kindergarten programming, including entry assessments, program development, implementation, and evaluation
Plan and coordinate professional development for Educational Assistants
Support division-wide programs, including Pre-Kindergarten, Foundation, and Blended Learning initiatives, ensuring alignment with division priorities and student needs
Qualifications
The successful candidate will:
Be an active, practicing Catholic committed to Catholic education
Hold a valid Alberta Teaching Certificate
Hold a related postgraduate degree and Leadership Quality Standard (LQS) Certificate
Demonstrate leadership experience at the school or system level
Show expertise in curriculum implementation, instructional leadership, literacy and numeracy, assessment, inclusive education, and educational technology
Demonstrate exceptional conflict management skills, maintaining composure and fostering constructive solutions in challenging situations
Compensation & Benefits
Salary: $153,000 - $160,000, commensurate with experience
12-month, out-of-scope position
