Reporting to the Senior Manager National Fleet, the Regional Fleet Manager oversees fleet maintenance, licensing, parts, and vendor services for Purolator's operations across Eastern Canada (Cornwall to Newfoundland).

This role includes regulatory compliance, budget management, technician training, and safety practices.

This position is based in Montreal (Ville St-Laurent).

Responsibilities
  • Maintain and assess employee productivity by standardizing repair times, reducing vehicle downtime, and ensuring timely scheduling of repairs and preventative maintenance to minimize service delays.
  • Manage and maintain a fleet of over 1,300 vehicles, including Class 8 tractors, trailers, and P&D vehicles.
  • Oversee 14 in-house Purolator shops with approximately 63 maintenance and support staff.
  • Ensure fleet maintenance meets Purolator standards, whether in-house or outsourced, for vehicles powered by gasoline, diesel, HEV, or full EV.
  • Achieve fleet quality objectives by adhering to standard repair times and service schedules, providing a safe, reliable, regulatory compliant, and cost-effective fleet.
  • Improve processes through continuous review and enhancement of key performance indicators for service and productivity.
  • Execute and sustain change by gathering employee feedback and maintaining regular communication, enhancing morale and supporting the company's people-first philosophy.
  • Meet department health and safety targets through employee awareness, proper use of PPE, adherence to safety policies, and active participation, reducing claims and insurance costs.
  • Manage costs and budgets through weekly expenditure reports to control maintenance expenses and meet financial plans.
  • Train and mentor employees for succession planning and future growth within the organization.
  • Regularly travel to sites across the Eastern Canada Region to meet with service vendors and in-house technicians, audit locations, and ensure compliance with Purolator policies.
  • Address fleet-related concerns with operations management and drivers, and communicate changes and concerns to upper fleet management.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
Education
  • Minimum College diploma or equivalent training in automotive systems and components, typically in a related field as a service technician.
Experience
  • Previous experience in managing a large truck fleet.
  • Licensed Automotive Service Technician or Truck and Coach Technician.
  • Class T and Class S automotive licenses are beneficial.
  • Regulatory training and basic legal courses related to the highway traffic act and national safety code.
  • Prior experience or training in finance, team building, people management, and health & safety.
Skills
  • Fleet maintenance system knowledge required (Fleet Assistant).
  • Strong knowledge of heavy and light vehicle maintenance.
  • Excellent analytical skills with a clear understanding of financial statements.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Good organizational, interpersonal, and time management skills.
  • Strong training abilities with the ability to mentor and coach employees.
  • Ability to motivate, lead, develop, and manage a diverse work group.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Quality process oriented.
  • Working knowledge of budgets and finance.
  • Knowledge of fleet maintenance systems.
  • Ability to travel nationally as required.
  • Industry affiliations within transportation and trucking are an asset.
  • Bilingual (French/English) proficiency in writing and reading both languages.
