QUALIFICATIONS
* Full-time post-secondary student at least 16 years of age, legally entitled to work in Canada and intending to return to their studies in the fall.
* Enrolled in a Health Care training program related to Nutrition Services preferred
* Current Food Handler Training Certificate Preferred
* Proficiency with Windows based programs (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Outlook)
* Province of Manitoba Class 5 Drivers License, or equivalent from province of residence, and access to a personal vehicle to provide service within Prairie Mountain Health
* Demonstrated organizational skills, and the ability to work independently
* Demonstrated problem solving and decision making skills
* Demonstrated flexibility to facilitate changes in techniques and procedures in a changing environment
* Demonstrated knowledge and competence of skills and concepts related to the position
* Demonstrated communication skills
* Ability to respect and promote confidentiality
* Ability to perform the duties of the position on a regular basis
* Ability to respect and promote a culturally diverse population
* Ability to work effectively and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers, clients and within interdisciplinary team


POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Regional Manager, Area Manager or Manager of Nutrition Services, the Summer Student, Nutrition services is responsible for assisting with development, coordination, implementation and evaluation of present and proposed operations and projects at designated sites within Prairie Mountain Health. The Summer Student, Nutrition Services functions in a confidential capacity in matters relating to labour relations.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Overview:

  1. Assist with program development, implementation and evaluation
  2. Assist with research of best practices
  3. Assist with the development of training and educational tools
  4. Assist with staff development and training
  5. Assist/participate in departmental quality control audits and procedures
  6. Participate in patient and resident communication and satisfaction audits
  7. Other duties as assigned.
