QUALIFICATIONS
* Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing or Psychiatric Nursing preferred, health related area or business
* Professional licensure in good standing in the applicable professional body in the Province of Manitoba
* Applicable professional organization memberships required
* Three (3) years of management experience in a health care setting across one or more assigned clinical areas of health care such as:
* Oncology, primary care, and/or community services including population health, health promotion and illness prevention for diverse populations across the human lifespan
* Acute inpatient, specialty care and complex ambulatory settings
* Integrating innovative community-based care modes (such as home care, primary care, etc.) to optimize healthy aging, health restoration and maintenance, and to deliver high-quality care in the areas of chronic disease, palliative care, community mental health, rehabilitation and/or long-term care
* Other suitable combinations of education and experience related to the position may be considered
* Demonstrated ongoing Education/Certifications or relevant experience in Adult Education principles and theory
* Functions in accordance with professional Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice
* Province of Manitoba Class 5 Drivers Licence, or equivalent from province of residence, and access to a personal vehicle to provide service within Prairie Mountain Health
* Proficiency with Microsoft programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint), as well as Internet applications and other Information Technology
* Demonstrated leadership and managerial ability
* Demonstrated written and oral communication skills
* Demonstrated experience in employee and labour relations
* Demonstrated experience in initiating changes and improvements, including skills in workplace re-engineering within a Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) environment
* Experience implementing program planning, development and evaluation
* Ability to prioritize in a changing environment
* Sensitivity to the human and political dynamics of health care management
* Strong organizational, decision making and problem solving skills
* Demonstrated ability to develop Policy & Procedures
* Ability to display independent judgment
* Ability to respect and promote a culturally diverse population
* Ability to respect and promote confidentiality
* Ability to perform the duties of the position on a regular basis


POSITION SUMMARY:

The Regional Manager - Cancer Care shall be accountable to the VP of Acute Care, PMH as well as CancerCare Manitoba and will be responsible for the development, coordination, implementation, evaluation and operation of Cancer Services within Prairie Mountain Health, as well will support PMH Regional Palliative Care program.

The Regional Manager shall work collaboratively with the Prairie Mountain Health Leadership Team to ensure, as reasonably possible that cancer care services shall be provided in accordance with the mission, vision, values and strategic priorities of the region as well as CancerCare Manitoba.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Overview:

  1. Responsible for the safe administration and operation of Cancer Services in collaboration with CancerCare Manitoba throughout Prairie Mountain Health.
  2. Monitors appropriate financial, human resources, equipment and environmental issues of Cancer Services within Prairie Mountain Health.
  3. Oversees the development of policies and procedures related to Cancer Services.
  4. Instrumental in the planning and development of a sustainable program.
  5. Participates in portfolio/facility/regional team structure.
  6. Develops and maintains functional relationships with other departments/programs.
  7. Plans for continued professional development of staff and self.
  8. Promotes positive public relations.
  9. Operationalizes Prairie Mountain Health’s Vision, Mission and Values statements.
  10. Promotes the quality dimensions of access, safety, effectiveness and satisfaction in the provision of Prairie Mountain Health’s services.
