QUALIFICATIONS
* Certificate in Volunteer Program Management or suitable combination of education and experience may be considered
* Minimum (1) year experience in a leadership position within the last (5) years
* Experience in Volunteer programs
* Knowledge of electronic scheduling program such as Volunteer Works
* Province of Manitoba Class 5 Drivers License, or equivalent from province of residence, and access to a personal vehicle to provide service within Prairie Mountain Health
* Proficiency with Microsoft programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint), as well as Internet applications and other Information Technology
* Strong decision making and problem-solving skills
* Demonstrated leadership and supervisory ability
* Demonstrated written and oral communication skills
* Demonstrated experience in employee and labour relations
* Demonstrated experience in initiating changes and improvements, including skills in workplace re-engineering within a Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) environment
* Ability to prioritize in a changing environment
* Sensitivity to the human and political dynamics of health care management
* Strong organizational, decision making and problem-solving skills
* Demonstrated ability to develop Policy and Procedures
* Ability to display independent judgment

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Regional Coordinator Volunteer Services is responsible for the delivery of quality volunteer services in Prairie Mountain Health. The Regional Coordinator Volunteer Services fosters/facilitates interdisciplinary, collaborative relationships within the facilities and programs to ensure a high standard of patient / resident care is delivered in accordance with the Manitoba Health Personal Care Home Standards and Accreditation Canada recommendations. The responsibilities of the Regional Coordinator encompass the domains of coordination, leadership, planning, organizing, program development, communication, resource management, advancement of knowledge, and continuous quality improvement. The Regional Coordinator Volunteer Services functions in a confidential capacity in matters relating to labour relations.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Overview:

  1. Establishes service delivery guidelines, policies and procedures and monitors and evaluates outcomes
  2. Forecasts future activities and formulates plans to ensure PMH Volunteer services can meet future needs
  3. Develops, implements and monitors orientation and training programs for new staff and volunteers
  4. Ensures the availability of competent and proficient staff and volunteers necessary to provide and support the highest quality of care possible.
  5. Assists with recruitment, interviewing, screening and selecting competent and proficient volunteers necessary to provide and support the highest quality of care.
  6. Ensure compliance with established policies and procedures by volunteers.
  7. Assess performance of volunteers through direct observation, peer feedback, resident/family feedback and documentation review, audits, etc.
  8. Assist Volunteer Coordinators with any reported concerns related to volunteer performance.
  9. Document appropriately results of performance management with volunteers.
  10. Maintains contact with counterparts in other health care facilities and professional associations to keep abreast of practice issues and changes in the delivery of care.
  11. Recruits and provides training for patients to become advisors for patient / family engagement.
  12. Maintains database of Patient / family advisors and assigns to projects as requested.
  13. Allocates resources to meet the needs of the service.
  14. Monitors the budget and investigates discrepancies on a regular basis.
  15. Develops community networks and partnerships for the purpose of volunteer recruitment.
  16. Prepares and disseminates appropriate information concerning Volunteer Services
  17. Other duties as assigned
