QUALIFICATIONS
* Post-secondary education in Social Work, Psychology, Psychiatric Nursing or Occupational Therapy with a minimum of 3 years of direct related experience.
* Eligible for and maintains provincial licensure to practice in the province of Manitoba.
* Five (5) years of professional or supervisory experience in a Health Care setting within the last seven (7) years.
* Engagement with or participation with community or provincial mental health partners
* Demonstrated knowledge of Mental Health system and the Mental Health Act.
* Province of Manitoba Class 5 Drivers License or equivalent from province of residence, and access to a personal vehicle to provide service within Prairie Mountain Health.
* Proficiency with Microsoft programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint), as well as Internet applications and other Information Technology.


POSITION SUMMARY:

The Director, Mental Health Services, shall be accountable to the Vice President, Community Programs and is responsible for the development, coordination, implementation, evaluation and operation of the mental health services within Prairie Mountain Health. The oversight for mental health services across the region may include, but is not limited to: Centre of Adult Psychiatry, Dauphin Mental Health Unit, Centre for Geriatric Psychiatry, Child/Adolescent Treatment Centre, Crisis Services/Mobile Crisis, Community Mental Health Programs for Children/Adolescents, Adults, and Seniors, Early Intervention Program, Psychosocial Rehabilitation program, Residential and Community Supports, Mental Health Grant Funded Programs (including RAAM) and new initiatives.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Overview:

  1. Responsible for the safe administration and operation of mental health services throughout Prairie Mountain Health.
  2. Monitors appropriate financial, human resources, equipment and environmental issues of mental health services throughout Prairie Mountain Health.
  3. Oversees the development of policies and procedures related to mental health services
  4. Instrumental in the planning and development of a sustainable department.
  5. Participates in portfolio/facility/regional team structure.
  6. Develops and maintains functional relationships with other departments/programs.
  7. Plans for continued professional development of staff and self.
  8. Promotes positive public relations.
  9. Operationalizes Prairie Mountain Health’s Vision, Mission and Values statements.
  10. Promotes the quality dimensions of access, safety, effectiveness and satisfaction in the provision of clinical services.
