Pembina Hills School Division invites applications for the position of School Counselor or Success Coach located in Ecole Barrhead Elementary School. This position is full time and will commence August 25, 2025. This position is open to certificated staff, as well as support staff.

The
School - Ecole Barrhead Elementary School
(Kindergarten - Grade 6)"Rising to the Challenge"
Ecole Barrhead Elementary School
is a dual track school offering English and French Immersion from Kindergarten
through Grade 6 for over 600 students. Our aim is to deliver an education
program with continued support from parents and our community. We are dedicated
to the personal and academic development of our students as contributing
members of society. Our vision is that all students will gain the knowledge,
skills and attitudes to be dedicated, self-reliant, and responsible.
Qualifications:
- Valid Alberta Teaching
Certificate with experience and masters level training in counseling
OR
- Registered Social
Worker with training and experience specific to counseling
Requirements:
- Knowledge,
understanding, and skills related to Trauma-Sensitive Practices (Bruce Perry)
- Knowledge,
understanding and skills related to solution-focused brief counseling or other counseling modalities appropriate for working with children
- Understanding and
application of mental health assessments and mental health prevention to triage
needs and consider risk
- Ability to work as
part of a team
- Ability to assess and
address a wide range of student needs
- Comfort in referring
students and families to other agencies
- Awareness of
confidentiality and appropriate information sharing
- Be a strong team
member but able to work independently
- Be committed to a
learner-centered philosophy
- Maintain close contact
with students, parents, and other stakeholders
- Monitor, guide and
support students in their progress towards counseling goals
- Have excellent written
and verbal communication skills
- Experience with small
group interventions or classroom presentations would be an asset
