Job Description:

Parsons is seeking a CBA - Water Treatment Operator I for our Faro Mine Site. In this role, play a crucial role in the successful operation and maintenance of all water treatment plant equipment and related water storage and conveyance facilities at the Faro Mine Complex.

Preference will be given to local candidates but open to candidates who are available on a fly‑in/fly‑out rotational basis

These positions work shifts of 2 weeks on and 2 weeks off with 12 hours per shift.

Employees are provided an LOA allowance and are responsible for providing their own food/meals

This position includes membership in the United Steelworkers Local 925. The hourly wage for this position is $30.29.


What you’ll be doing:

  • Operation and monitoring of water treatment facilities and performing routine pump checks

  • Maintain, manage, and troubleshoot equipment including pumps and piping.

  • Work near and around large diesel powered pumps and generators.

  • Work 12-hour day and night shifts as scheduled, in a combination of indoor and outdoor environments.

  • Complete timely and accurate daily records of plant and pumping performance.

  • Conduct daily site inspections and record observations.

  • Notify supervisor of any issues relating to the water treatment process, pumps, and pipelines, with detailed observations of abnormal conditions.

  • Always maintain a high standard of housekeeping.

  • Engage in all forms of labour to assist in the successful operation of all water treatment processes.

  • Assist site trades and services personnel as required.

  • Attend training sessions as required.

  • Complete Health and Safety (H&S) training related to on-site policies and company requirements and adhere to requirements while performing work.

  • Complete chemical handling training and adhere to requirements while performing work.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Participate in mine rescue training.

  • Participate in first aid training.

What required skills you’ll bring:

  • Previous water treatment, process or industrial experience preferred.

  • Valid class 5 driver’s license required.

  • Both off pavement and winter driving experience preferred.

  • Troubleshooting and detailed ability to provide accurate descriptions of problems.

  • Mechanical aptitude is an asset.

  • Willingness to work in both indoor and outdoor environments.

  • Willingness to work in a remote northern community.

  • Willingness to work in a team environment.

  • Understanding of time management.

  • Able to lift, pull, stand, or crouch for long periods of time (physically fit).

  • Capable of the safe handling of lime and other chemicals.

  • Ability to lift 25 kg.

  • Familiar with computer skills -Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.)

  • Proven understanding of safe work practices and mitigating risk.

  • Ability to work with little supervision and function in a multidiscipline environment.
