Job Description

Under the direction of the Payroll Supervisor, the Intermediate Payroll & Benefits Clerk:

  • process pay for casual groups and payment requisitions as assigned by supervisor;

  • assist payroll team with processing bi-weekly pay as required;

  • input new hire information as assigned;

  • run the pay along with pre and post payroll reports;

  • process pay information for summer school;

  • assist with responding to questions from general query inbox;

  • respond to inquiries regarding Records of Employment (ROEs);

  • acts as back-up for monthly benefit remittances;

  • performs other duties, as assigned by the supervisor.

Required Qualifications:

  • one year of Community college in a related field;

  • three to five years of payroll and/or pension related experience;

  • familiarity with relevant legislation (i.e. Employment Standards Act - ESA);

  • experience understanding and applying Collective Agreements;

  • proficiency in computer programs, Excel, Word and Google Workspace, etc.;

  • excellent organizational and communication skills;

  • ability to work under the pressure of constant deadlines;

  • individuals who possess an equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered.

In addition, the following will be considered an asset:

  • National Payroll Institute (NPI) - Payroll Compliance Professional (PCP) designation;

  • School board payroll and/or pension experience.

Annual (or Hourly) Salary: $59,599- $64,078

This is a permanent, full-time, twelve (12) month position with an annual salary range of $59,599- $64,078 (effective September 1, 2025). A comprehensive employee benefits package is also provided.

The effective date is September 2, 2025.
