We are seeking an experienced, committed educator
to join the Learning Support Services team as:
EN 100% Elem Central Position - DHH Itinerant Teacher (1 positions available - 1 year term to August 31, 2026)

Eligibility List
OCDSB ELEMENTARY CONTRACT AND OCCASIONAL TEACHERS ON THE APPROVED OT Roster are eligible to apply for this OCDSB vacancy, provided they are qualified and capable. However, the first consideration will be for OCDSB elementary contract teachers.
Please be advised that our order of consideration for this term assignment is as follows: 1) current elementary contract teacher applicants, followed by 2) current elementary occasional teacher applicants
Qualifications
Special Education:
- Must meet the criteria for Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (Reg 176/10)
- qualifications in Special Education (an asset);
- American Sign Language (ASL) (an asset);
- demonstrated experience and expertise in special education teaching and learning strategies in the primary/junior/intermediate divisions, with senior division experience an asset;
- experience and expertise with current programming strategies (accommodations, modifications, alternative) to meet the needs of students with special education needs; specifically for students who are Deaf / Hard-of-Hearing;
- knowledge and expertise of current assessment/evaluation strategies and procedures specific to students who are Deaf / Hard-of Hearing;
- experience, expertise, and strong understanding of the Ontario Curriculum, Differentiation, Universal Design for Learning, Learning for All, and Tiered Intervention across the divisions;
- knowledge and understanding of the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans, including IEP Online (IOL);
- knowledge of SEA (Special Equipment Amount), specialized equipment, and assistive technology appropriate for a variety of special needs learners.
Term
This is a centrally assigned term position, subject to annual budget and funding approval, commencing September 1, 2025 and ending August 31, 2026 with the opportunity for renewal. Upon conclusion of this term, you will retain the right of return to your home school, subject to surplus/redundancy provisions.
Salary
The salary is based on your grid salary/allowances. There is no additional allowance tied to this position.
Selection
It is anticipated that the selection team will consist of a team of principals. The Interview Committee will review all applications received and produce a list of candidates to be interviewed. Candidates will be advised via e-mail if they have been selected for an interview.Application Process

1. At least three (3) teachers, who are currently employed as an occasional teacher with the OCDSB, and who have the required OCT qualifications and who best meet the criteria outlined in the job posting.

Elementary teachers retain right of return to their home school for three years, subject to surplus/redundancy provisions. Following a term of more than three years, elementary teachers shall be subject to the transfer/placement process.
