S2526-09 Child Development Counselor - Cold Lake Region

Northern Lights Public Schools is seeking a Temporary Full-Time (1.0 FTE) Child Development Counselor for the Cold Lake Region. The Child Development Counselor will serve as part of the Student Support Services Team. The successful applicant will work proactively to enhance student well-being, resiliency, and academic success by providing direct support, assisting in the development of programs, and connecting students and families with appropriate resources.

Duties of the Child Development Counselor will include:

  • Work within a designated region and/or across regions to provide support
  • Work in collaboration with the Divisional team and under the direction of a Principal
  • Work independently with students or in the classroom
  • Work with a particular student or a group of students within the class or in a specialized program
  • Provide programming assistance to students with social and/or behavioral needs
  • Travel to and work with multiple schools and school settings within a specified area

Preference will be given to applicants who have:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Psychology or related field is considered an asset
  • Between 1-3 years supporting youth in an inclusive education setting is considered an asset
  • An equivalent combination of Education and Experience may be considered
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Valid drivers license
