Northern Lights Public Schools for the following position:

C2526-30 Collegiate Teacher

This is an asynchronous 0.2667 FTE teaching position from February 17 to May 29, 2026 for Northern Lights Public Schools, Northeast Alberta Collegiate Institute. Northern Lights Public Schools seeks a passionate and qualified asynchronous instructor to teach our Winter semester SOCI 101 Introduction to Sociology Course. The ideal candidate will have a strong academic background in early childhood development, committed to fostering an engaging and inclusive online learning environment for a diverse student population.

The instructor will be responsible for a class size of up to 40 students per course. This unique cohort comprises learners from four different partner school divisions, requiring an instructor adept at managing and engaging a varied student body in a dynamic online environment.

About the Position

SOCI 101: Introduction to Sociology

This course is designed to introduce students to the discipline of Sociology and current sociological trends and issues. The course provides an overview of sociological concepts, perspectives, processes, and institutions in a Canadian context.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality, engaging instruction for ECDE 100 in an asynchronous online format

  • Provide timely and constructive feedback on student assignments and discussions

  • Facilitate online discussions and foster a collaborative learning community

  • Grade all assignments and submit final grades according to institutional deadlines

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Alberta Teaching Certificate

  • Master’s degree (preferably in Education)

  • Previous experience teaching online and undergraduate courses is an asset

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills, and the ability to work with minimal supervision

  • Strong computer skills, Moodle, and online learning
