Norda Stelo west is a privately owned consulting engineering firm that services the resource and industrial sector throughout Canada, the US, and internationally. We are growing in a diverse range of industries, including mining and minerals processing, ports and terminals, construction aggregates, engineered wood products, pulp and paper, petrochemicals, municipal infrastructure, and utilities.  We have a multitude of interesting and exciting projects in progress and in the pipeline, which are providing our team of professionals with many opportunities for growth, career development, and learning.

Norda Stelo’s Vancouver office is located at the Broadway Tech Centre on the corner of Broadway and Renfrew, with convenient access to Renfrew SkyTrain Station and designated bike routes. The Broadway Tech Centre has an array of amenities, including a fitness centre, basketball/ball hockey and volleyball/soccer courts, an outdoor BBQ area, restaurants, cafés, bike lockers, showers, underground parking, and a daycare facility.

Our expertise is diversifying, how about you?

As an integral member of our mechanical department, your main role will be the preparation of mechanical designs, including the layout, modeling, and development of general arrangements and details for conveyors and associated heavy industrial structures, equipment, piping, ducting, and supports. Travel to job sites on a short-term basis for field measurements, condition inspections, or construction management may be required.

Mechanical/Piping/Materials Handling Designers          

Ideal Mechanical Designer candidates will possess the following qualifications and characteristics:

  • ·        Formal education in design and drafting.

  • ·  Design and drafting experience relevant to design of process plants, marine terminals, wood processing plants, mines, and other industrial facilities.

  • ·       Proficiency in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Plant 3D, Civil 3D, Inventor, Navisworks, Revit or other similar software packages would also be an asset.

  • ·        A demonstrated ability to read, remember, and apply design criteria, industry standards, and client specifications.

  • ·        A demonstrated ability to liaise with clients, contractors, and consultants.

  • ·        Excellent verbal and written communications skills in English.

  • ·        Strong attention to detail and excellent record keeping skills.

  • ·        A valid BC driver’s license is considered an asset but is not required.

  • ·        Experience working in a steel fabrication shop is considered an asset but is not required.

  • ·        Experience conducting inspections and repairs at ports, marine terminals, and mines for a range of bulk material handling equipment is an asset.

 Mechanical/Piping/Materials Handling Engineers

In addition to the above, ideal Mechanical Engineer candidates will possess the following qualifications and characteristics:

  • ·        A Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering and registration as an engineer in training or a professional engineer with EGBC.

  • ·        PE Registration in one or more US states is an asset.

  • ·        Experience working as a project engineer, field engineer, or package engineer is an asset.
