Job Description
JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for the overall operation of the Wastewater Treatment Facility, pumping stations, and collection systems utilizing computer Supervisor Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems. Sample, analyze, and interpret data to ensure efficient process control and the Ministry of Environment (MOE) quality standards are being met.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION
  • Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent plus four (4) years additional education or training relevant to the functions performed. (180 CEU’s required) * 10 hours = 1 CEU

* * 45 CEU’S = 1 year of post-secondary education

KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE
  • Four (4) years’ experience as an operator in that type of facility, including at least two (2) years as an operator in charge of a Class III or IV facility
  • Must possess Ministry of Environment (M.O.E.) certification as a Class IV Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator.
  • Must possess Ministry of Environment (M.O.E.) certification as a Class IV Wastewater Collection Operator.
  • Must complete additional levels of training as prescribed by the Regulations leading to certification at the level of the facility.

SKILLS
  • Must be proficient in working with Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems.
  • Must possess basic knowledge of mechanical and electrical maintenance.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid and unrestricted class G license for the class of the vehicle operated
  • Must be able to work without direct supervision.
  • Must possess computer skills.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS
  • Must comply with all aspects of the Regional Respiratory Program Policy. Respiratory Fit Test mandatory.
  • In accordance with the Corporate Criminal Record Check Policy, the position requires the incumbent to undergo a Criminal Records Check and submit a Canadian Police Clearance Certificate.
  • It is the employee’s responsibility to possess and maintain a valid and restriction-free driver’s license of appropriate class to carry out the duties of the job.
